Thoughts for food..
After 14 years since my last blog, a chance conversation with a friend made me come across my old blogs & made me realise what I was missing all this while.
Admit that preferences of keeping self/mind occupied evolved/devolved over time ( as per the viewer's point) with IPL being a major influence. During my last blog & the current one, IPL actually had a kind of metamorphosis towards Indian & Global cricket, paving the way for franchise cricket & this has actually killed the love for the game for the purists who are still of the firm opinion that Red ball cricket is the purest metric of measuring a player.
Cricket/IPL aside, I have seen the rise of right wing politics since my last post & where are we now? Maybe the 4th largest country by GDP trailing only US & China & just an inch behind Germany. I'm not sure what was the cost for this development? GDP Per capita still lies within the reach of developing countries & the real development hasn't come from the villages which traditionally were considered the backbone of India. The metrics have tilted, focus of the politicians isn't inline with the aspirations of the voters.
Coming to the least discssued topic, Spirituality. I still don't get the point why there is always a tussle between the Govt & temples in certain areas. Not trying to be a religious bigot here, but there is a sense of disbelief that Govt (endowments dept) is always after certain temples only for the assets and not for the overall development. Not sure if this is been seen across other places of worship. Have felt that temples are always on the wrong side of the Govt eyes especially during my visits to Mahabalipuram & deep interiors of TN. Hope the new govt does what's best for the people.
Taking a moment of gratitude to my friend who helped me make a comeback. Hope you like this :)
Signing off.
